Syaa House

1st prize @Bucharest Annual 2019

Dumbrava Vlăsiei is a special place in the middle of nature, hidden in its secret forest clearing, surrounded by a wheat field. We decided to build with wood because it is a natural, renewable, archetypal and friendly material.

This material has reached remarkable technological performances, so we used the Cross Laminated Timber system. Then, we chose to design a slant roof house, in accordance with the context and local tradition.

There have been several design decisions inspired by the local architecture and the location: a large, covered, south-facing terrace, a shape of the house adapted to the shape of the parcel, a care for the relationship of the house with the neighborhood, the central park or the other houses.
